World Class Skills

In response to Leitch, the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) established World Class Skills - developing responsive provision programme (WCS). KPMG deliver the programme on behalf of LSIS and lead a consortium of national partners. Together they can bring significant expertise to you and your organisation. They can also draw in the sector's most innovative and effective practice to share with you.

Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF)

PROVIDER READINESS PROJECT
The Association of Learning Providers (ALP) is collaborating with Qualification & Curriculum Authority (QCA) to implement the 'QCF Providers Readiness Programme' within the FE sector.
To ensure by December 2010, Work based Learning (WBL) Providers who hold LSC contracts has the necessary expertise and systems in place to have a thorough appreciation of QCF and the impact of QCF on all learners and employers.

The Learning and Skills Improvement Service

Welcome to the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) topic webpage; over the coming months, ALP and (LSIS) will be collaborating on communications activity to the ALP membership. The purpose of this activity is to inform ALP members of the programmes and services LSIS offers, which may be of use to independent learning providers and to help streamline the volume of communications by using existing well established channels. We hope it will encourage and increase communications from ALP members to LSIS – your views are vital to the development of LSIS activities and through this collaboration we will ensure LSIS hears them.

Machinery of Government Changes

When Gordon Brown became prime Minister in July 2007 he effectively split the then Department for Education and Skills into two and created the Department of Children Schools and Families which looks after all children and young people up to the age of 19 and LLDD learners up to the age of 25.

Lifelong Learning UK

Building on the ongoing work with Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), ALP have signed an engagement strategy for another one year to support and promote the benefits of the Catalyst programme to ALP members and the wider Work Based Learning (WBL) community.

Ex-Apprentices - Where are they now...?

ALP recently undertook a scoping survey, commissioned by Edge an independent education foundation, dedicated to raising the stature of practical and vocational learning to track the career paths of ‘Ex-Apprentices’. The response was tremendous and ALP has been able to capture their stories which provide a comprehensive picture of 'Ex-Apprentice's successes'.
