ALP launches discussion paper – new qualification implementation

Last updated: 18 Jun 2010

ALP has recently developed in consultation with key members, a discussion paper related to the process of preparedness providers need for implementing new qualifications. It is clear that this process is often forgotten by planners and funders and often by awarding organisations as well. Commenting on the discussion paper, Paul Eeles, Director of Sector Reforms, who leads for ALP on Qualification Reform said: “Providers are last in the planning process and very often have to go to market with little by way of knowledge and understanding of changes that are happening to qualifications. The impact of rushing to fund new qualifications for delivery without building in development time for providers and their staff directly impacts on the quality of delivery to learners and ultimately success rate. With the implementation of QCF the impact of wide scale new qualifications introduced over a very short period of time could have significant impact for providers, learners and employers without giving providers the time they need to successfully develop the curriculum.” ALP has now shared this discussion paper with its partner organisations such as Awarding Bodies, SSCs and the Skills Funding Agency. The discussion paper can be downloaded below.
